Yes. Woell Marine is fully approved as an MSC.402(96) service provider and authorized by multiple IACS member classification societies (Recognized Organizations). We perform inspections, maintenance, repairs, and testing for lifeboats, rescue boats, and launching appliances (davits) in compliance with the latest IMO requirements.

Only companies approved by the corresponding flag administration and/or classification society may perform these services in line with IMO MSC.402(96) — including both manufacturers and independent service providers like Woell Marine.

No. Manufacturers must also hold valid class or flag approvals to perform service work. Likewise, independent companies may service specific equipment types if they have the required authorizations. These approvals are based on technicians’ qualifications — either trained by the manufacturer or certified through an ISO 23678-compliant training program.

Service technicians must be certified according to a recognized national or international standard — or a manufacturer’s qualification scheme. The globally accepted standard is ISO 23678, demonstrating competence for specific makes and models.

No. Many flag states recognize approvals issued by classification societies. Others — such as Liberia, Panama, and the Bahamas — issue their own authorizations. Woell Marine ensures full compliance with the applicable flag requirements before attending any vessel.
