To inspect the hull, thrusters, propellers or anodes of ships in port, Woell Marine relies on innovative underwater drones (ROV) from leading manufacturer Blueye Robotics. These ROVs are equipped with a special full HD camera that delivers high-resolution images which provide information about a possible need for maintenance or repair. This type of inspection offers the possibility to stream the high-resolution video recordings and images live, so all stakeholders have immediate access to the data — no matter where they are in the world.
Where ROVs can be used, they offer great advantages over divers. It is more flexible, faster and also more cost-efficient, as the use of divers is no longer necessary. All that is needed is an operator who controls the drone remotely. The use of ROVs is also suitable for the cost-optimised inspection of canals, port infrastructure or buildings whose foundations are underwater, such as storage facilities or warehouses in the port area.
