Life Saving Appliances (LSA) — Service & Compliance

In an industry where safety and regulatory adherence are paramount, our LSA division provides a comprehensive service portfolio that ensures your vessel remains compliant and your crew remains protected. Our operations are fully aligned with IMO Resolution MSC.402(96), providing the legal and technical framework for all survival craft and launching appliance maintenance.

As an Authorized Service Provider (ASP), we operate with the formal approval of Flag Administrations and major Classification Societies. Our certifications from DNV, Lloyd's Register (LR), Korean Register (KR), Bureau Veritas (BV), ABS, NKK and RINA confirm our authority to conduct inspections independently of the manufacturer.

Lifeboats & Rescue Boats

Annual and 5-yearly service of totally enclosed lifeboats, free-fall lifeboats, rescue boats and fast rescue boats — including release gear overhaul and 1.1x SWL load test.

Launching Appliances

Inspection, load testing and overhaul of gravity davits, A-frame davits, rescue boat davits, free-fall davits and life raft davits per SOLAS III/20.

Survival Craft & Launching Appliances

Equipment We Service

A single technical partner for the full range of survival craft, davits and release gears — inspection, overhaul, load test and certification.

  • Totally Enclosed Lifeboat

A totally enclosed lifeboat craft used on cargo ships, container vessels, bulk carriers, and tankers to protect the crew from extreme weather and hazardous environments. For operations on tankers, these boats can be equipped with an internal compressed air system and an external water spray system to ensure a habitable environment when passing through fire or toxic gas clouds.

  • Free-fall Lifeboat

Launched from an inclined ramp, designed to clear the vessel immediately upon water entry. Compliance requires rigorous testing of the primary and secondary release systems and hull structural integrity. For hazardous cargo operations, specialized tanker versions feature self-contained air supply and external water-spray systems, enabling safe passage through burning sea surfaces.

  • Rescue Boat / Fast Rescue Boat (FRB)

High-maneuverability vessels used for recovering persons from the water and marshalling life rafts. Fast Rescue Boats must meet specific speed and stability requirements under the LSA Code.

  • Free-fall Davit

The launching ramp and recovery system for free-fall lifeboats. It includes the hydraulic release unit, the sliding ramp structure, and a recovery winch for boarding and drills.

  • A-Frame Davit

A pivoting frame system used to lower and hoist rescue boats or fast rescue boats. It operates by swinging the craft from the stowed position to the outboard position using hydraulic or gravity-driven power.

  • Rescue Boat Davit

A dedicated launching appliance designed for the rapid deployment of rescue boats. These systems often feature high-speed winches to ensure effective operation even in adverse weather or ship list conditions.

  • Life Raft Davit

A crane-type appliance used for launching davit-launched life rafts (DLLR). It facilitates the inflation of the raft at deck level, safe boarding, and controlled lowering to the sea surface.

  • Gravity Type Davit

A lifesaving launch system that utilizes the weight of the lifeboat to swing and lower the craft outboard solely by gravity, requiring no external power and ensuring full evacuation capability even during a complete dead-ship scenario. Compliance requires rigorous operational testing of the winch, mechanical brakes, and release systems to guarantee a controlled, reliable descent in emergency conditions.

  • Automatic Liferaft Release Hook

A specialized hook used with davit-launched life rafts. It is designed to automatically release the raft once it is waterborne and the tension on the fall wire is removed.

  • Off-load Rescue Boat Release Hook

A safety-critical hook system designed to release the boat only when it is fully supported by the water. These hooks must be overhauled and load-tested every five years to ensure the interlock mechanisms function correctly.
